PT. Elegant Textiles marked the Group's foray into Indonesia in 1973. Today, it is the world’s largest producer of rayon spun yarn, contributing 10 per cent of the global rayon spun yarn trade. PT. Elegant is the largest exporter of rayon and rayon-polyester spun yarn with a market share of 30 per cent from Indonesia and with an annual sales turnover of US$ 122 million.

From an initial capacity of 14,960 spindles, the capacity has now touched 170,400 spindles including the latest Vortex spinning technology with 80 per cent of its products exported to quality-conscious customers in the US, Turkey, Korea, Japan, Italy, Greece, Spain, Brazil, Argentina and other locations in Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

Perceived as a quality leader, PT. Elegant’s products command a premium in the marketplace. Almost half the production caters to niche segments, where it is put to sensitive use, such as high-quality fabrics for medical applications, car seat covers, upholstery and fancy yarn production among other uses.

Recent awards include the Best in its Class Award in the Big Industries category from the Asia Pacific Quality Award Organisation in 2006, the coveted IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award 2005. In 2004, PT Elegant was adjudged as the Quality Benchmark in the International Category by Qimpro Standards, India, for implementing the International Quality Maturity Model (IQMM). It has earlier been ranked among the top five best employers in Asia and number one in Indonesia by Hewitt Associates.
