Established in 1980, PT. Indo Bharat Rayon (IBR)
pioneered the production of viscose staple fibre
(VSF) in Indonesia and was also the first to achieve
ISO 9002 and ISO 14001 certifications as well
as the OEKO-TEX certification from BTTG, Europe.
The
companys modern plant situated at Purwakarta
in West Jawa, commenced commercial production
in 1982 with a modest capacity of 16,500tpa.
Through strategic investments in expansion over
the years, today it has an installed capacity
of over 192,000tpa and has become the worlds
second-largest manufacturer of VSF at a single
location.
Marketed
under the brand name Birla Cellulose,
the company produces a wide range of VSF in engineered
specifications for textile and non-woven applications.
The
company also produces chemicals like anhydrous
sodium sulphate and sulphuric acid. Anhydrous
sodium sulphate is widely used in the detergent, glass,
textile dyeing, and pulp and paper industries in
the domestic as well as overseas market.
Committed
to continuous improvement, IBR has achieved a
high level of operational efficiency and product
quality. The companys strong focus on environmental
protection is reflected through its investments
in a sophisticated state-of-the-art waste-water
treatment plant and scientific waste disposal
system. This has been duly recognised with IBR
continuously positioned under the Blue Category
by the Ministry of Environment, Indonesia, which
is a remarkable achievement in the rayon industry.
Amongst
other recognitions, IBR has won the coveted IMC
Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award 2008.
Today,
IBR not only enjoys a dominant share of the domestic
market but also caters to a whole gamut of customers
in the US, Europe, Turkey, Japan, Korea, China,
Morocco, Philippines, Malaysia and other global locations in textile
and non-woven segments.
